Today we're launching Formulary, the newest addition to mPharma's product family.
Formulary completely revolutionizes the way you interact with the products through Bloom. In this article, we'll cover the most important things to keep an eye on as we roll out this product across the mPharma network.
Formulary will be available beginning in Kenya from 30 September, 2024. We'll launch in our other markets over the course of the next couple months.
Say Goodbye to Duplicates π
Using advancements in AI and a much simpler product creation workflow for our internal teams, You'll no longer have to deal with duplicated products in your inventory. We know that sometimes duplicates in your product list means that one product might have a price assigned, while another has stock. This can cause problems when you're inbounding stock into your pharmacy, into a warehouse, or when you're trying to select a product when making a sale.
Beginning on Monday, 30 September, you may notice fewer products in your inventory. As part of Formulary's launch, we'll be merging hundreds of duplicated products across the network. Don't worry, we'll be preserving all your sales and purchasing data across all the products, so you won't lose your history.
Better, Clearer Product Names
We now have a much more structured way of creating product names. For every product, we require our team to capture information about the product's brand, active ingredients, and manufacturer, as well as whether that product is considered branded or generic. Now that this information is better structured, we can use it to generate much cleaner product names. You'll notice two things right away.
First, any branded product will also contain the ingredients. You'll be able to pick your preferred brand for any particular ingredient when ordering, and when making a sale. This also helps to prevent accidentally selling the wrong product to the wrong person.
Next, all generic products will also contain the manufacturer as part of the products name, so you'll never accidentally mix them up again.
Finally: Barcode support π¦
As a way to reduce duplicates in our network, and make it much easier to find what you're looking for, we're finally introducing widespread support for UPCs and GTINs. This means that for many products, you'll be able to use a barcode scanner to find it quickly and without error when making a sale.
We can't wait to hear your thoughts about these new features! Feel free to reach out to support with any questions, concerns or ideas for more improvements!
